Perfect 590L

By Natasha Friend
This book is mainly about a girl named Isabelle. The main challenge is her trying to overcome being bulimic. She has trouble with her family and some friends. It takes place mostly at her school and her house. I enjoyed this book a lot because it talks about trouble that many teens are going through. I recommend this book to anyone really. I think a lot of people would be interested in this book because at times it’s funny and kind of suspenseful.

The 7 habits of highly effective teens – 870L

By: Sean Covey

This book was made mainly to help kids get through high school. It has many stories from the author when he was a kid, and also it has some real quotes from some famous people that he put in the book to try and help you stay positive. I didn’t really like the book, and would not recommend it to anyone. I didn’t like the book because it was too long and had a lot of boring parts. You can listen to this book on audio, but I did not. Sean Covey wrote this book by inspiration of his father who wrote many books like Sean’s.

In the Line of Fire 590L

By Tod Olson

The main character’s name is Keith Tabor and he is in World War 2. The main challenge is to win World War 2 and push the Germans out of Europe. It takes place in Europe and it is 1941. I kind of liked this book because it is about war. One theme of the book is that war is hell and to make it out alive you have to work hard.

Soldier’s Heart: 1,000L

By: Gary Paulsen
Charley was a 15 year old boy from Minnesota who wanted to join the union army in the Civil War. He lied about his age to join the army. After the first battle he was sure he would not make it home. Charley thought that he was going to die every day. The battles started to become too much for him right away. He was in some of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War. I really enjoyed this book. It has a lot of action and shows what the soldier’s life was like in the Civil War. Soldier’s Heart has some life lessons in it. One of them is “Most things are not what it appears to be.”

The problem that Jackson has is that he needs help to kill it. The setting is in London by the stone hedge where it all happens. I liked this book a lot because there was mystery and suspense and there was also horror. One of the themes of this book is that people finally get to relax, but not until the danger is over.

Out of War 910L

By. Sara Cameron

This book is about 9 kids that have been in violent situations. They all live in Columbia. I liked the book because it showed 9 kids who took a bad situation and made it good. People can learn to not think of their life as bad because they don’t have it like those kids do. I listened to it on audio.

Hatchet - 1020L

By Gray Paulson

Hatchet is about a boy name Brian Robeson. He is on his way to his father’s place in the Canadian oil field in a small bush plane. On the way the pilot suffers a heart attack and the plane crashes into a lake. He survives the crash and makes it to land. Brian now has to survive the Canadian wilderness with only a hatchet and his brain. In his adventures he gets attacked by a moose, and caught in the middle of a tornado, which makes him start from the beginning again. I liked this book because it has two of my favorite things, the wilderness and airplanes. I hope that the next book is even better.
