This book takes place in a summer community called Amity on Long Island. The main character is named Martin Brody. He is the chief of the Amity Police Department. His wife is named Ellen Brody and they have two sons named Martin Jr. who is twelve and Sean who is almost six.
Brody’s main problem is that there is a creature eating people as they go swimming. The creature is a great white shark swimming in the ocean off the shores of Amity. Brody closed the beaches. But the mayor and some other people forced Brody to open the beaches again.
An old friend drops into Amity to study the shark. The man name is Matt Hooper. He is Ellen’s old boyfriends’ little brother. And now Brody and Hooper have to find a way to kill the shark to allow Amity to survive. I really enjoyed this book because there are a lot of events you just don’t see coming and this book is really descriptive. I would recommend this book to someone who loves adventure, horror, and excitement.
